Bikram’s Yoga is a Hatha Yoga practice of 26 postures with two breathing exercises done in the exact same order every time in a room heated to approximately 105 degrees Fahrenheit with 40% humidity during the course of 90 minutes.

The ideal setting for Bikram yoga is 105 degrees Fahrenheit and 40% humidity. Although it fluctuates some based on external conditions, we try to keep it pretty constant.

What to Wear:
Be prepared to SWEAT! The most important thing is to be comfortable. Wear supportive and breathable clothing. You may want to avoid wearing pants and heavy cotton fabrics. Less is more!

What To Bring:
Every student is required to have a yoga mat and a full-sized towel to go on top. You will be VERY sweaty, and the towel will keep you from slipping on your mat. For your convenience, we offer mat and towel rentals at the front desk. You will also want to bring plenty of water to drink. We have a wide variety of drinks available for purchase, so they stay nice and cold!

Everybody is different, but we typically advise people not to eat a meal within two hours of class. If you need to eat before class, eat a light snack. We do a lot of compression postures in high heat, so eating a heavy meal may make you uncomfortable. As always, listen to your body.

Bikram yoga is a moving meditation. We always perform the same 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises. You will find that although the postures don’t change from class to class, your body and your experience will be different each time.

Our teachers use the bikram yoga dialogue, which will guide you through the mechanics of each posture. It may seem fast at first, but you will become familiar with it over time. The teachers do not demonstrate the postures, so if you are new to the yoga, it’s best to start at the back of the room so you can learn from your fellow yogis.
